Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy – Lived Experience Focus Groups
The Department of Health is holding focus groups across the State for people with lived experience of suicidal distress and/or supporting someone experiencing suicidal distress. The focus group will provide a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space to support you to share your views and experiences and discuss the suicide prevention needs of the community. Self-Advocacy Toolkit and Workshop Program Launch
After 18 months of work, MHFFTas officially launched its self-advocacy program on 21 June 2022 at Moonah Arts Centre in Moonah. An intimate, yet highly engaged group of almost 30 people from government and community organisations, the mental health sector and support people and carers from across Tasmania gathered to help celebrate the completion and launch of a 70+page toolkit that will resource and empower support people to be their own best self-advocates. Introducing Access Mental Health
The Department of Health, Tasmania, through the Tasmanian Mental Health Reform Program, has been progressing a staged implementation of Access Mental Health, the new mental health support, triage, and referral line, since late last year. This service is now fully operational across Adult Mental Health Services Statewide. This program is operated in partnership with A Tasmanian Lifeline, Access Mental Health is available from 9am to 10pm, seven days a week to support the Tasmanian community and make it easier to access and engage with the Tasmanian mental health system. Recovery College update – Mental Health Reform Program May 2022
The Recovery College is one initiative through the ongoing Tasmanian Mental Health Reform Program. The college aims to build mental health in our community through an education focus. College’s value the diverse skills, experiences and perspectives in our community and have a focus on recovery at an individual, family, community, and system level.
