You may be aware that on Tuesday, 18 October 2022, the Hon Bill Shorten MP announced a review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The review will look at the design, operations and sustainability of the NDIS. It will also look at ways to make the market and workforce more responsive, supportive and sustainable. For more info: https://www.ndisreview.gov.au/about
Despite the NDIS being for people with lifelong disability, many people on the NDIS also have a family member or friends providing informal support and care. We support this review process and hope that it can lead to improvements for NDIS participants, and subsequently their carers. We don’t want the needs of carers to be missed in this important review. We want to find out from the perspective of carers, what has been helpful, what has been challenging, and what can be improved throughout this whole process. We would also like to hear from people and their carers who may not have been eligible for the NDIS.
Come along and have your say.
