Stride to run the new Medicare Mental Health Centres in Devonport, Burnie and outer Hobart.

Primary Health Tasmania has selected Stride to establish and run new Medicare Mental Health Centres in Devonport, Burnie and outer Hobart.

Medicare Mental Health Centres were previously known as Head to Health centres. They are funded by the Australian Government; you can read more about them here.

Stride has been successfully operating the existing Medicare Mental Health Centre in Launceston for the past two years.

Primary Health Tasmania are excited to be working with this very experienced organisation to increase access to mental health services in Tasmania by expanding our network of Medicare Mental Health Centres.

At this stage, it s anticipated that services will commence by the end of 2024. The timing of service commencement will depend on Stride’s ability to secure appropriate premises and employ a suitable workforce, alongside other key establishment requirements. Stride will engage with a number of Tasmanian organisations during the establishment phase.  We will share more as the establishment progresses.

Also, please note that people needing mental health support can still call the national Head to Health Phone service on 1800 595 212 between 8:30am to 5pm week days, or visit headtohealth.gov.au/The names of these services – and of the Head to Health Kids hubs – remain unchanged.
