Support for Families & Friends

There are a range of supports and services for families and friends of people with mental ill health and or co-occurring Alcohol and Other drugs: advocacy, counselling, clinical care, education, outreach services, peer support, suicide bereavement, recreational programs, residential care & respite, training, and referral to other programs.

MHFFTas runs family and friend support groups for people supporting someone with mental ill health and / or co-occurring Alcohol and Other drugs

We call these groups  Safe Spaces  You can join us at a Safe Space either online or in person. Our groups run across Tasmania (Hobart, St Helens, Launceston, and Devonport). For more information on Safe Spaces, navigate the events tab.

We also help families and friends have their say and keep up to date with changes to mental health and alcohol and drug services in Tasmania. You can find out more about upcoming changes to Tasmanian mental health and alcohol and drug services here.

Other resources available in Tasmania are listed below. The Families and Friends Charter of Resilience has some thoughts and tips that may also be helpful.
