In June, the Productivity Commission released its interim review of the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement, and the findings were clear, the current system is not working.

MHFFTas has joined our national peak body, Mental Health Carers Australia (MHCA), in responding to the interim report. Our submission, alongside MHCA’s calls for a reset of the National Agreement that centres lived experience at every level of governance, embeds relational recovery models of care, prioritises regional funding flexibility and invests in an increase in specialised support services for families and friends. MHFFTas welcomes the response in the interim report that acknowledges the need to improve data collection on the wellbeing of mental health families and friends.
