The annual ALIVE Lived-Experience research priority-setting studies aim to build a broad database of mental health research priorities from the people most impacted.  This study started in 2022 with a national survey for anyone with lived experience perspectives and has been focused on increasing contributions from specific groups in 2023 and 2024.

The 2024 ALIVE Lived Experience research priority-setting replenishment study focuses on the views of carer, family or kinship group members, and gives opportunity to anyone supporting someone with mental ill-health to take part.

There are two different participation methods to help generate and prioritise mental health research topics:

1. The brief online survey asks you some questions about your age, gender, location and type of lived experience. As a person with carer, family or kinship group experience, we will ask you some questions about how you see your role. You will be asked to list three priorities for mental health research from your own perspective. See the information sheet below and complete the survey.
2. If you would prefer to work with ideas put forward by others, you can take part in emotion mapping. You will have a private online workspace called a Mural board, where you can use virtual post-it notes to reflect on the importance of topics and think about how they should be organised.
