An online event exploring lived experience stories and their potential to promote connection, awareness, and positive change.

Finding North Network will be holding Perspectives 2024, an e-symposium exploring the theme ‘Amplifying Lived Experience Perspectives for Connection, Awareness and Change’.

Representing a collective of unique perspectives, this free online event by Finding North Network promises not only a thought-provoking exploration of Lived Experience through the art of storytelling but also a chance to learn how others have leveraged their lived expertise to drive meaningful change. This unique opportunity is a chance to learn, grow, and connect.

Throughout Perspectives 2024:

  • Explore the theme of amplifying perspectives for connection, awareness, and change: uncover what it means to you and how you make an impact in your own way.
  • Listen as speakers with experiences of various mental health challenges share their personal stories of recovery, healing, advocacy and hope.
  • Hear the unique challenges migrant and refugee communities face and the importance of awareness, education, and early intervention.
  • Gain insights into the power of Lived Experience storytelling and the impact it can have.
  • Learn about what ethical and authentic engagement with lived experience looks like in the work.
  • Hear from Peer and Lived Experience workers on the diverse Lived Experience Pathways available, how to embrace your expertise and tips for navigating your way.
  • Learn how to challenge responses to disclosure of Lived Experience and raise awareness about the power of your Lived Expertise.
  • Discover diverse approaches at the forefront of Lived Experience Leadership across Australia.
  • Be inspired to find your place within the Lived Experience community and connect with existing and emerging Lived Experience leaders.

The Program

Day 1 and Day 2 will explore different aspects of how Lived Experience perspectives can be amplified.

  • Wednesday, 20 March 2024 – Day 2

Embracing and Focusing Your Lived Expertise. Learn how Lived Expertise can drive meaningful change within communities, organisations, the mental health sector, and beyond.

*You have the option to register to attend day 1, day 2 or both days.*

Who can attend?

The e-Symposium is open to everyone to attend, including people who identify as having a Lived or Living Experience, are on their recovery journey, want to share their story or utilise their Lived Expertise for a more formal role, Peer and Lived Experience workers, and people working in the mental health or other relevant sectors.

Registering for the Event

In the lead-up to the event, everyone who has registered to attend will receive the link to join us for the event. The details will be sent to you via the email address you registered with.

The event will be recorded so if you are unable to attend live you will still be able to access the recordings – the links will be sent to you via the email you registered with after the event.
