Self-Advocacy Toolkit and Workshops

This project is funded by the Commonwealth of Australia represented by Department of Social Services
In 2020, the Department of Social Services through the Australian Government, funded MHFFTas to build the capacity of families and friends to support someone with a psychosocial disability through this self-advocacy project. This project has two major deliverables: a self-advocacy toolkit and a workshop. Each was co-designed with our advisory group, called the M-LEAG (Members of Lived Experience Advisory Group).
Through brainstorming, feedback sessions, and meetings, 10 key tools were highlighted to help support families and friends to be their own best self-advocates while they navigate their support journey.

We are currently planning the delivery of future workshops, which we expect to roll out throughout the State from July 2023. To support the facilitation of the workshops, we’ve developed the following resources:
Self-Advocacy Workshop Presentation
Facilitation Guide
Facilitator Notes
We’ll be offering free training to families and friends who would like the opportunity to become a Self-Advocacy Facilitator. If you would like to express your interest, please email admin@mhff.org.au or alternatively, phone 62287448
