From the CEO:
On behalf of Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania (MHFFTas) I am pleased to present our 2020-21 budget priority submission. Our organisation is the DHHS funded Peak Body representing and working with mental health families and friends across Tasmania.
Our submission highlights a growing need for support for families, friends and carers who support people living with a mental illness.
Throughout 2019 MHFFTas has worked closely with families and friends to identify ways to improve family and carer support across the State.
Our budget submission has a key strategy to improve support to families which improves access to each other and opportunities to engage with like-minded people in similar circumstances. The proposed program has the potential to build capacity of family carers to consider a career in Peer Work.
I look forward to hearing from the relevant parties to further discuss our recommendations.
